Default Where do you get pancetta?

Can you buy pancetta at a regular grocery store? I shop at Publix and I cannot find it. Where would it be? By the regular bacon? If you can't buy at it regular store where can you buy it?

Thanks so many recipes call for this and I cannot find it. I have substituted bacon but I am sure it would be better with pancetta!

I am able to buy it at my local grocery store in the deli. They will cut it for you by the slice, as little or as much as you need. And there also is some already sliced packaged stuff .

I like the pre packaged stuff I get it at sams, but I still prefer bacon over pancetta, it does not impress me at all.

Pancetta is the Italian version of bacon. Just substitute.
Communicate. It can't make things any worse!

You can substitute bacon, I have. They are different but unless you have a gourmet palate, don't worry.

As the others have said. Your grocery store deli should have it.

I buy it at my local butcher. They have a deli and full meat counter, and everything is fresher than the food store...quicker turn around time I guess
