Default ? about package delivery and USPS

Apparently, the post office tried to deliver a package to my house on Feb. 15. I was not home to accept delivery so according to the USPS website, a notice was left in my box to come pick up the package. I never got a notice. How long before they will send the package back to the sender? I sure hope that they have not already. I have been expecting it and would have gone right away had I known it was at the post office. I have not gotten a second notice about it, either.

I'd check with your post office. Some don't care and some are overly efficient and will ship stuff back.

What are the customer service hours of operation for 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777)

When is a delivery attempt notice left?

When no one is available to receive a delivery, which requires a signature, payment of fees, or is too large to fit in the mailbox. A Delivery Receipt (PS Form 3849, "Sorry We Missed You") is left at the address showing that the parcel is being held at the addressee's local Post Office.

Note: For Express Mail, a PS Form 3849 is left after the first delivery attempt. A second delivery attempt is automatically made the next working day unless the customer requests a different redelivery date or goes to their local Post Office to pick up the mailpiece.

A return date will also be written in the Final Notice section of the Delivery Receipt, when the second notice is delivered. The return date is the date your mailpiece will be returned to sender, unless you arrange for redelivery of your mail or pickup your mail at your local Post Office on or before this date.

We are going to check with the post office this morning as soon as they open up for their Saturday hours. I tried the customer service number last night but it was just computer generated answers to fairly easy questions. Hopefully it is still there. I know that I have not gotten a notice. Maybe he just forgot to put it in the box or something. I would not even know it was at the post office had the person that mailed it not used the tracking number and told me it was there.

I feel your frustration SuzieQ. I wonder if they put the notice on your door and it fell off or something. I am certain though, that they are supposed to give you a second notice before they send something back to the sender. So it seems strange if you didn't see two notices. I've had the post office come to the door before with packages, so that's why I think it might be possible that they left the notice there. However, I don't doubt that they could have said they put it in your box and they didn't. I don't know what is standard for the post office, but they will leave packages at our doorstep WITHOUT even ringing the doorbell. At least UPS rings the doorbell....they walk away, but at least you know the package is there if you're home. I hope you get your package and I hope what's inside is a nice surprise!!

I got my package this morning. DH went and picked it up. It was full of chocolate from my sister, Cheft, in Canada. I wish I could by those Nestle' Aero candy bars here.

    I didn't know this

    Countries where Aero is sold

In addition to the United Kingdom, the bar is also sold in Canada, Australia, The Republic of Ireland, Germany,Portugal , Poland, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Colombia and Estonia under the Aero name, and in the Netherlands by Nestlé as Bros (meaning: 'brittle') as well as Hungary by Nestle as Boci Aero.

The Aero bar was made available for a short time in the United States by Nestle during the 1980s, though it seems not to have been a commercial success. Previously the Hershey Company sold Aero bars in the United States under license from Rowntree Chocolate Company from 1937 until 1939.
(( no wonder we can't find it no more ))

The British version is available in some parts of the US as an import. Aero enjoys a large market following in South Africa with Aero, Aero Mint and, recently, White Aero and Capuccino Aero. In Brazil the bar is known as Suflair
