i may not get to it for several weeks. here's the recipe, if you get to it before i do, lemme know how good it is !! lol

    4 lb. chuck roast
    6 cloves garlic
    1 can coke
    1 can beef broth
    1 can french onion soup
6 French Rolls or deli rolls
    2 Tbs. butter

Cut slits in roast and insert cloves of garlic. Place roast in crockpot and pour can of coke, soup and broth in. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. When done, shred beef on a plate, strain broth into a bowl. Slice open rolls, butter inside and heat in 350 degree oven for 5 min. or until warm and butter is melted. Place meat into rolls, and pour broth into individual bowls for dipping.

when aunt cousin julie was here two weeks ago, we swapped recipe books. she had alot of gramma's i didn't have. and vice versa.

    we scribbled all afternoon.
I wrote mine down on index cards. this inspired me.

the last two weeks i have been putting my recipe book together, all hand written. i think hand written recipes are the best. we giggle at the ones my wrote out when they were just getting their grove on their hand writing it's so cute.

I bought a 200 page photo album. put the 4 x6 index cards in it, it's turned out really cool. kids wrote some, julie wrote some, i had a bunch on the computer i copied them down, I have 140 in there now, i may need another book.

if that wasn't enough, i have cleaned up my mess of recipes for freezer cooking. those are all seperate, therefore some are written twice, freezer ones are printed and put in a fun 3 ring binder. I need protective sleeves, and i need tabs.

but, i'm gathering and organizng my recipes. it's looking really cool, and i am so excited to have the hand written ones.

started the french dip last night.
at 4 am i woke up to a wonderful smell of garlic and roast and something, it was wow.
so i shut off the crock pot and its done now, i did nible on a bite, it was really good.

new recipe, i fiqured what's the worse that happens? it'll all be edible, may not turn out like we wanted but it's edible...

Just so you all know...a chuck and arm roast are off the same section of the animal which is the shoulder. The primal cut in the meat industry is referred to as the 'chuck' and it contains three basic cuts-the blade, arm bone and cross rib (plus trimmings).

The blade contains the blade bone, the arm bone contains the round shoulder bone and the cross rib contains four rib bones.

If you buy the first cut off the blade section for steaks or a roast, it will contain a portion of the rib eye muscle which is very tender. Unfortunately, they can be quite fatty in appearance and are usually the last ones to sell in the meat counter.

The flavor from the chuck section is much better than that of beef tenderloin adn a quarter of the price.

    Hope that helps.

That was very helpful thanks saskwatch! I always buy they "chuck roast" as it is very tender and flavorful and perfect for my recipes.

I prefer chuck roasts. They are moister & have a better flavor. I always have problems with shoulder roasts being dry.
