    Default Raw eggs,,safe to eat?

    I dug out an old dessert recipe my Mom used to make back when I was a little girl, it is called Lemon Freeze. It is made with sweetened condensed milk and eggs. It is a frozen dessert. I'm always squeamish about anything that has raw eggs in it. Do you think cuz this dish is frozen it 'may' kill any little germies/bacteria, if there is anything? lol! I know it sounds silly, and well, we always used to eat this dessert and no one ever got sick then!

    Eggs nowadays are much more safe to eat raw than they were back then! And they never killed us! Lol (btw... Need that recipe!!)
    my doc, tells people, when they want to gain weight (usually elderly). Take a carnation instant breakfast, make it up, add a scoop of ice cream, and a raw egg, then blend. Unless they are immuno-compromised.

    So long story short.... Yes, they are safe! Lol

    Well, I had already made the dessert and put in freezer, then I started thinking........
    I will share recipe. It is so easy, so delish!

    When DH played football years ago, the coach told them to have a raw egg in a glass of milk for energy.

    I used to beat up raw egg in smoothies all the time as a kid, never ever got sick from them. I'd say go ahead.

    I buy the liquid egg substitute to use in recipes calling for raw egg. It is already pasturized and seems to work just fine.

    Ginger, that exactly what I was going to say! I make lots of homemade ice cream and drink lots of protein shakes.....I always use the pourable eggs because they are pasteurized, not a salmonella risk like the raw ones.
