Thread: Side Dish with

potatoe chips as an ingredient.

We are having an Iron Chef competition at work and the 'secret' ingredient is potato chips. Then we got the Side Dish part of the meal.

Are there any recipes for side dishes with potatoe chips in them? Please help if you can.

Cheesy potatoes
Ingredients
1 pound frozen Southern-style hash brown potatoes
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of potato soup
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream 1 (16 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup crushed potato chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large baking dish, mix together potatoes, soup and sour cream. Mix in cheese and butter. Salt and pepper to taste, if desired. Top the mixture with potato chips.
Bake 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the mixture is bubbly and lightly brown.
Remove from oven and let stand 15 minutes before serving.

The food network magazine had a section last month about using potatoe chips as a main ingredient. I will have to look at the magazine when I get home. I remember the dessert, to bad you didnt get that one. It was like a heath bar made from potato chips. I will update you tomorrow.

Hey Grammy, how'd your competition go? What was the winning dish? Laura

We won't have the competition until August. They give us three months' notice so we can get our ducks in a row.

The last competition we won. The secret ingredient was cheese and we had appetizers. Our presentation knocked their socks off. We did zuchini strips with a cream cheese mixture and different toppings on the zuchini. We also did a pineapple on scewers with cheese and had the fruit dip in a hollowed out pineapple. We did pinwheels which are made from crescent rolls - never knew they had recipes like that, lol.

We put a table cloth on the table, had wine glasses and empty wine bottles with grapes around them. Then arranged the rest on the table.

So this time the secret ingredient is potato chips and we have the side dishes. I will let you know how we do. I think after this last one, everything went up a notch, lol...
