Thread: ISO: vanilla lemon chip cupcake recipe

anyone ever heard of this? saw a pic of these on another cooking site -- of course; on that one, you can't ask other people questions. they looked really good (I LOVE ANYTHING LEMON!!!) i would assume they have lemon chips in them -- they looked like they were frosted with maybe a light buttercream or lemon buttercream but then they had tiny lemon chips that looked like chocolate chips, only they were lemon, sprinkled on top of the icing. and i guess the biggest problem would be where to buy lemon chips. i have never seen them before. someone mentioned king arthur flour's site, but they don't carry them. any help would be appreciated.

are you sure they were lemon chips and not white chocolate chips? I've never heard of lemon chips either.

the chips were yellow. pretty sure they were lemon. i did a search for lemon baking chips and several others had asked where to buy them on different blogs and the only reply i saw was that king arthur flour site used to sell them but they are no longer available.

yes, I found the same thing last night. They still have a lot of different flavors, just not lemon. I wonder if you could make your own using melted white chocolate and adding lemon flavoring? It would be tedious and the chips might look funny, but may be do-able

I looked too. The closest thing to a "yellow chip" is
Peanut butter chips and Toffee Chips.

Okay I'm bored I think I found 1 site that sells Lemon Baking chips if their web site is up to date.

I went to the U-Bake website but this seems to be just a store operation. It doesn't look like they ship their products. They have several stores listed on their website but you have to actually visit a store. Too bad, they have a lot of interesting products and their stores seem to be only in Wisconsin. However, there are a lot of recipes on this site so that makes it interesting to visit.

I bet you can call those stores and order what you want.

Wow, lemon chips are extremely hard to find but I did track them down for anyone that is interested in buying them. I can't vouch for the store but here is a link where you can purchase them. Good luck with the baking!!

At least the address of the company deweydecimel posted has an online catalog. Both companies mentioned by deweydecimel and jackibowen are both located in Wisconsin. Interesting.
