    Talking Mussels in a Sake Shoyu sauce?

    My bf and I eat at the El Rancho restaurant in Evergreen, CO all the time and the sauce that comes on the mussels says that it's a Sake-Shoyu sauce but I can't find anything online that seems similar? These are the best mussels and I would like to make them at home. Thanks!

    Hi Jane4165....Welcome to CK!

    I couldn't find the recipe you are looking for but maybe if you sub the clams for Mussels it might work. Let us know if you try it.

    BROILED CLAMS

    1 lb. clams

    SAUCE:

    1/2 c. sake or mirin
    1/2 c. shoyu
    2 tbsp. miso
    4 tbsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. gourmet powder
    1/4 tsp. salt

    Mix sauce ingredients together and bring to a boil. (Ingredients can be purchased at any Oriental shop.) Put clams on bamboo sticks and barbecue over charcoal fire.
