    Default Menu for the week....

I am TRYING to get organized now that the kids are back in school (LOL)
So I figured I would start with something I KNOW I can accomplish (food). I am planning the weeks menu, and I hope the shopping will go easier! Does anyone else plan ahead? What is a typical week night menu for you? Does it fit into the running around of every day life? Here is mine for this week:

Tonight - beef stew (defrosting now) Also making tomatoe sauce today
Sunday - Baked Ham steak with grilled pineapples, perogies, and sugar snap peas
Monday - Sweet and Sour Pork Roast (crockpot) with carrots and potaotes.
Tuesday - Beer Butt chicken, brown buttered noodles, corn
Wednesday - Meat loaf, mashed potatoes, Carrots
Thursday - Chicken Penna Alfredo with garlic bread sticks
Friday - make your own pizza night (featuring all the left overs from the week)

I do plan for the week. I shop on Thursday so my planning goes from Thursday to the following Wednesday. I usually just use a piece of paper and fold it in half and then list the days starting with Thursday and thru to Wednesday down the left hand side of the sheet using a bunch of space in between days. Then directly under the days of the week I put in any engagements or appointments or other commitments that the family has. This way when I go to plan the menu I see that if that day of the week doesn't get me home till 4 pm or that the day is especially hectic that I need to plan for a very quick meal. We eat early at 5 pm. If there is something that I am hankering of having I put it in the appropiate day that can accomodate it based on the schedule for the day. I usually then rely on the tons of recipes I have recieved from this site and plug them into the rest of the days. I hope I am making sense. It would look something like this:

Thursday - Dinner out with girlfriend Anne
    (10:30 am
    Hair appt)

Sorry I did not complete above menu.

Friday - Fish, coleslaw, tater tots
    (Dr. appt 9am
    shop for birthday & allergy
    Shot at 3pm)

Saturday - Pot roast, potatoes, carrots
    (funrniture being
    delivered 11am - 3pm)

Sunday - Pizza and Wings from takeout
    (casino)

Monday - Hamburger, macaroni and cheese
    (bowling then cards)

I think you get the idea. Then I make my grocery list based on what I am having.
