Tonight on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, Guy spotlighted a place in East Amherst, NY called Grover's Bar & Grill. They serve a soup made with all the ingredients of a classic cheeseburger...including lettuce and tomato.
Does anyone out there happen to know this recipe? I love cheeseburgers and I love soup...this would be the best of both worlds, especially now that it's getting to be soup weather. Thanx in advance. Joyce |

I saw that, too, it did look good! Iffy on the lettuce, but Guy gave it a thumbs up.

You can Google Cheeseburger Soup and a lot of recipes come up. I live about 5 miles from Grovers and I will go and give it a try. They have huge hamburgers that are delicious. I had Cheeseburger soup at a small restaurant called The Lakes Lounge in Vegas and it was delicious

This recipe from moo is awesome and one of our favorites...I'm sure you could add tomato and lettuce at serving time
![]() Cheeseburger Soup posted by Moo 1lb ground beef 3/4 cup onion, diced 3/4 cup carrots, shredded 3/4 cup celery, fine dice 1 tsp. dried basil 1 tsp. dried parsley 4 Tbsp. butter, divided 3 cups chicken or beef broth 4 cups potatoes, peeled and diced 1/4 cup flour 2 cups Velveeta, cubed 1 1/2 cups milk 3/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/4 cup sour cream (optional) In a 3 quart saucepan, brown the ground beef. Drain any fat. Add 1 Tbsp. butter along with the onion, carrots, and celery. Saute until tender, about 10 minutes. Add the basil and parsley, along with the broth and potatoes. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until potatoes are tender. In a small skillet, melt the remaining butter; add the flour and cook until bubbly. Add to the soup and cook for 2 minutes. Reduce the heat to low. Add the cheese, milk, salt and pepper. Cook and stir until the cheese melts. Taste for seasonings. Remove from heat and blend in the sour cream if desired. Or just add a dollop to each individual bowl. Makes 8 servings.

http://lifeslittleblessing.blogspot.com/2009/10/cheeseburger-soup.html
I'd try that one... maybe w/ fat free 1/2 and 1/2. I saw the soup on the show and it looked like it would be about a MILLION calories, it was so thick!! But it sure looked good!!

The recipe Mo posted was a Grand Champion winner at the State Fair in Kansas several years ago. It is very good, IMHO.

Moo! I think yours sounds yummy too!!
Me too. Do ya suppose I could use corn starch in a little cold liquid rather than the butter and flour "roux?"
