Please read all the instructions. I have friends who work for Jarden who make the Tilia Food Saver. They get calls all the time from people who don't read the instructions and then call and complain it doesn't work anymore after they had their machine suck up a lot of iquids. Also, Do not use it for any baked goods like cookies or bread. We found that out at work. We tried to seal a bag of cookies we got as a gift, and the machine sucked out all the air, and the cookies were pushed into each other and boy they were really smashed.

I really like my Food Saver. Do make room on your counter so you use it often. As someone said no more moldy cheese. I even freeze meat before I seal it to keep the juice in. I buy a slab of salmon at Costco and cut it in the portions for us and seal and freeze.
I especially like the canisters. We are not coffee drinkers so a pound of coffee would last forever but in the sealed canisters it almost will be fresh for ever. Ever have fresh strawberries spoil before you can eat them up? They stay fresh so much longer in the canisters. Great for any fruit. I will have to try the lettuce as I've not used that one. I like to repackage hot dogs for just the two of us. I might freeze a casserole and then pop it out and food saver it. I don't use mine every day but do love it. Why did I wait so long to buy one. Can't really add anything but hope you enjoy! I should use mine more often than I do.

I use mine to seal bread, muffins and cookies all the time. The new one allows you to stop the process when you want and seal---anticrushing. Works great. I was at Sams Club here a couple of days ago..they were $118.

Watch for a sale at Kohl's. Or go to QVC and search for foodsaver. They sell them there. Foodsaver makes several different models and prices differ between the models. I have 2, a full sized one which I very seldom use and a mini which takes the small roll of bag material. I find that works well for most of my meats, veggies etc.

they were sooo happy since they have been wanting one, but not sure if it was worth it. i got a killer deal on mine. was on sale for $50 and i got 20% off of that with my employees discount . (that kinda made up for the shipping to fl lol). and dont buy bags! they are waaay to expensive! get the rolls and make your own bags. easy and cheaper.

luv2bake....
Glad you "finally" got one!! LOL Here is one hint that will save you some money.......don't use it to seal anything liquid! You have been warned about liquid ruining the motor, but my reason is to save you money. I buy the Freezer Ziploc bags at Sam's......They cost around 4 cents per bag. Simply fill any liquid into your own portions and then squeeze the air out and seal. Very simple, no pre-freezing required and MUCH cheaper than Foodsaver bags! Also, as you have been told, pre-freezing things really helps. I do this with bulk shredded cheeses and baked goods. By pre-freezing, you won't have a flattened mess. Another money saving tip.......use only when freezing foods. If you try to seal every leftover you will go broke quickly. Most leftovers should be used within 3 days and vacuuming will NOT prolong the formation of bacteria.......the food has already been exposed to the air! Finally, you can use the bags to heat your meal! Simply keep the bag sealed, place in a pot of water, by time the water comes to a boil your food is hot! I do this with all of my BBQ meats and when you crack open the bag, that wonderfull smoky smell is still there......like you just took it out of the smoker! As a long time, very frequent user I hope these help!
