Hi luv2bake! I have sort of been looking at those, and wondered how well they work. Back when my kids were in college, I used a Dazey-Seal-a-Meal (I believe that's what it's called), and in fact, still have that one...not sure a person can still buy those bags, but would really be interested in knowing more about the FoodSaver as well.

I have had a FoodSaver for many years. I vacuum seal all my meat, veggies and fruits for freezer.
Just don't do liquid like soup unless you freeze it first as it will suck it into the mechanism. I understand that some of the new models you can now do that but not older models. My frozen items can be kept in freezer for many months without any damage to the product. |

Oh you are going to love it!!!!
as Joanne said, be careful with any liquid. BTW, don't use your foodsaver for croissants (don't ask) |

I love using the canisters. For fun, put marshmallows in a canister (cool). I use canisters for lettuce, fresh fruit, deli meat.....
The bags are great for the fridge and freezer. I buy 4# blocks of cheese and then cut them in 1# blocks...... they last forever in the fridge. My mom wrecked her first one by sucking to much liquid into it..... |

I just got a Food Saver V2840 Advanced Design, today was the first day I used it. I love it so far, but have only sealed up a few packages of walnuts and cheeses. I have both the bags on the roll and the precut bags, used the precut ones today...for more use below link..
