Awesome! My son-in-law is from Mexico City. In fact.....he ,my daughter and grandchildren are there right now. Bean's recipe is very authentic! It's the kind of "Taco" my daughter has learned from her mother -in-law how to make ..they always serve it with fresh chopped cilantro too....and .....NOTHING like a Taco Bell Taco at all! Try it with Pork Roast and Chicken ...even a good firm fish.....EXCELLENT!
I'm so happy you liked it. Mexican food is our favorite and make it VERY often.
These are awesome, I have been making them for over 20 years!

Flour Tortillas

4 C. flour
1 T. baking powder
2 t. salt
1/3 C. lard

Mix together, using a pastry blender or two forks.

Add 1 1/4 C. hot water, stir till combined. Rest 15 min. Roll on lightly floured surface & brown in skillet on medium/high heat.

Great for large soft tacos, taco pizzas or even with a spread of butter!

Here is a pic with added cilantro in them.

How many does this make?

Can they be frozen before shaping? After? Or, after they are cooked? Can I use my mixer to make the dough?

I would love to try these, but there are only two of us. I'm making one of your pork dishes right now.

I usually make 1/2 the batch for just us. You pinch off a small or large amount depending the size you want. I have never froze them, but do put the dough I don't use in the fridge, let come to room temp. and roll and brown. You don’t need a mixer, it mixes real quickly in a bowl by hand.

So, we had a GREAT Cinco de Mayo party this year. I did the jalapeno bombers & they were a huge hit. Here are some pics. Of course I had to show off the pinata cooler of refreshments after eating a jalapeno

Default Re: Chile Rellano Puffs

I have been making these for our last 4 Cinco parties. However, the last 2 we have had these did not come out.

They are turning out like a baked cookie.
Taste is still wonderful but looks terrible.

Should there be something in here, like an egg or something to bind them?
thanks
