Default Blueberry Pie Filling

What's the easiest way to make a pie filling with fresh blueberries?

I have a recipe that calls for a can of blueberry pie filling but I'd rather use fresh blueberries.

Thumbs up Re: Blueberry Pie Filling

Hey Ali, long time, no see. Hope all is well. I use this filling for a cobbler, but see no reason why it wouldn't work for a pie.

2c blues
1t freshly grated lemon zest
1/3c sugar
1T fresh lemon juice
1t corn starch

toss on a bowl, mix, then into a pie plate. You may want to double, depending on how big your pie plate is. This is a drop dead filling, and if you wish the cobble, holla!! Laura

PS if you are really daring and want a punched up flavour, add 3/4t cardomom to the mix, it'll make you cry,it's so good!!!

Thanks! I knew it had to be easy and much cheaper than buying the stuff in the can.

I'm making Paula Deen's Blueberry Crunch something-or-other dessert. Can't wait!

I just bought a 5 pound box of blueberries. I canned 7 jars of bluberry jam and still have alot left. I could get a pie out of some of it. Looks easy.

Just In Case~ Cobbler Topping!

2c flour
1/3c sugar
4t bake powder
3/4t cardomom (If making cobbler, use cardomom here, and not in blueberry mixture for pie)
1/2t salt
8T butter
1 egg beaten
1/3c milk

toss into food proscessor till crumbly. Turn out and mold together, making biscuits for the top of your cobbler. Bake cobbler at 350* for 35 min.
I'll be over for dessert, Laura
