I just wanted to say, for those of you who like peaches...they are absolutely wonderful right now. There's a farm market down the street that gets them in fr/South Carolina and GA. I'm planning to buy a bunch and put them in the freezer. I just love them later on just thawed, with a few ice crystals on them. Of course, they're best right now...I could eat my weight in them.

I like to eat peaches, but I don't like to peel them, it's a process and I don't like the fuzzy skin. So I don't buy them, unless of course somebody will peel them for me

I don't like the fuzzy skin either, but these are so soft and ripe that they are very easy to peel and they pull away really easy fr/the peach pit. I have not cut them up and frozen them in many years but I am going to do it...I will thank myself for it in January. lol

I love to split them in half and dip them in brown sugar, then grill them for about 10 seconds till the sugar burns and makes a candy coating. Then I put on a few drops of lemoncello, or drown it in heavy cream.
I was waiting for the ohio peaches to come in season, I know last year early in the season it was 14 dollars for a big basket, which lasts about a week around my house. |

Here's a recipe I found on a year of crockpotting:
Peach Compote 3 to 4 fresh peaches - I used 2 as I have a Little Dipper 1/3 cup brown sugar - I used sugarfree syrup & Splenda brown 1/4 cup brandy - I used Scotch 2 T butter 1/2 t ground cinnamon - I forgot 1 t vanilla - I forgot Use 1.5 qt mini crockpot for this. Wash and slice your peaches. Put them into your crockpot. Cover with the brown sugar, brandy, the 2T of butter, and the cinnamon and vanilla. There is no need to melt the butter beforehand. Cover and cook for about 90 minutes, to 2 hours. If your crockpot has the temperature knob, go for high. So then you can eat it faster. Serve over vanilla ice-cream - I ate it from the crockpot The Verdict. Beyond delicious. I wonder if I can get away with only eating peaches this way from now on? |
