Just on the news, it may be coming up soon, where the airlines now will charge by how much you weigh !!! That has to be unconstitutional !! The more you weigh, the more you'll pay for your ticket.. First they decided to charge for checked bagage, but to charge for how much you weigh?? So people will have to stand on the scale when they buy their ticket?? And they weren't talking about taking up two seats either. Anyone here about this yet?

Oh, HELL NO! I just don't think so. Now, I DO agree that if you are very obviously obese, (I'm talking HUGE) that yeah.. you should pay for two seats, because you WILL be using both seats! But, you can pretty much tell by just eyeballing someone that has two butts, that they will NEED two seats.............Chubby folks that DO fit in one seat should not be subjected to that. Grossly obese people KNOW that they are grossly obese. They should expect to be charged for the number of seats that they will be using, and honestly, they should WANT two seats!

They weren't talking about taking 2 seats.. They were talking about people's weight in general.. The more you weigh, the more you pay...Just like checked in luggage, the heavier it is, the more you pay... Give it a few days, I'm sure it'll be on your local news...

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! How humiliating!!! I mean, Good God! What about us "big boned" gals!?? I do not like that idea. I do not like being weighed in general, but to be weighed for money?? I am pretty sure that my fat a** is not going to make a HUGE difference in the fuel cost on a several ton aircraft!! Now, if you fill the plane with ME, then yeah, maybe! So, will the really skinny people get rebates??

They had some "expert" on to say it's a differant situation than discrimination, because it's not your fault if your handicapped...but it IS your fault if your obese.

I thought...no, it's the GOVERNMENTS fault we are obese becuase of all the CRAP they let manufacturers put in our food saying it's OK over the past 20yrs...not to mention the real REASON the airlines are forced to do this is because the cost of gas...which I also blame on the GOVERNMENT....

And what about tyroid problems? thats not your fault...

I am not obese...I just think making excuses for the mistakes of others is a sickness! put blame where blame belongs...the crappy BUSH reign.

I heard about it yesterday, they were talking about that on a local radio talk show. Will never happen in my opinion, talk about law suits.
Question I have is, what about people who buy their tickets via internet ???? Where do you weigh in then ??

Maybe you'll have to enter your weight before you can print your ticket...then if your "off" they can charge you more... just a thought

The airline spokemans just kept saying its not a discrimination thing...peeps who are obese KNOW they are obese and should buy the appropriate amount of seats. The lawsuits would have no real merit.

you know what I mean. 20-30yrs ago there was no serious obese problem. The manufacutures have been given the green light (by MANY politicians-on BOTH sides of the aisle), to add chemicals and crap to our foods. THAT was not Bush. I like the way you read into things.

BUT...the gas price in 1999 was 1.90 a gallon...what happened in 8years?

My point is (before someone changes my thoughts again), that the airlines have been dealing with the high price of fuel...so instead of fighting the cost...they pick on the little (ahem, BIG) people. They pass the mess along to us and single out one group to pick up the slack.

I can remember years ago when DH was on active duty in the Navy and we had to fly military aircraft. Getting you and your luggage weighed was part of the routine of flying military. Back then, I was just a kid, well maybe 20, and couldn't have cared less. But now it would be a different story. I probably weighed 110 soaking wet then. But now that I've matured, everything else has too. lol Nobody but me and my Dr. knows the truth.
