  • Kentucky Hot Browns

I might be the only person who has never heard of these. I'm watching Throwdown with Bobby Flay, and I guess Hot Browns are very popular around Kentucky and the south. They look absolutely wonderful! For all you southerners, is this a common dish in your neck of the woods?

I had to goggle Hot Browns to even know what you were talking about, but it really looks good.

My husband grew up in Ky. He took me there and I had the Hot Brown. It is absolutely delicious and artery clogging! Every time we go back on vacation we have to get them. I have made them and they are pretty darn good, but not as good as theirs.

I saved the recipe and will make them for brunch soon... Bobby Flay made his bread like french toast, and the Castro Brothers just used good white bread. The sauce is TDF ! And all the reviews said to be sure and have that sliced tomato on top.

I heard of these a few years ago and have saved a couple of recipes for them, but haven't made them yet. Not sure why I haven't! They do sound so good!!!! Southern Living had a couple of different versions of them in one of their issues and I saved them...

I am thinking about going to Allrecipes.com to see if I can find a really good and high rated recipe also. I love the fact that you can read all of the reviews to see how other people "tweaked" the recipe..

Lauren, The 2nd one looks identical to the recipe at the Brown Hotel where the Castro brothers cook. The only thing different, is that today they added a pinch of nutmeg..
Next time I have weekend company, I am for sure making this !!

I have never heard of these and I also had to Google them to see what they are. They do sound like the kind of comfort food that my DH would gobble up. And he LOVES gravy on every thing so that works well

CookinKat makes these! I didnt know what they were either, but she posted in the dinner thread one day that she was making them so I asked her what they were. She was making hers with Texas toast and turkey, and covering with a cheese sauce. They sounded yummy!

I agree that having the slice of tomato on top is a must janabanana.
