Just read on AOl that she had a baby girl and named her Honor Marie.

What is with people and bizzare baby names?? Do they have any clue how they name their kid affects name calling in school, ability to get jobs?

I love all the unusual names people give their kids. The worst is trying to find things like hair barrettes and junk like that w/ unusual names on 'em.

I love the name Apple. Pomme (French for apple) has been a popular name for years in France.

I like it when people give their kids *different* names. To an extent, I mean the ones who name their kids Moxy Crimefighter or Moon Unit or crap like that are just stupid but.......

At least it wasn't another Nevaeh (Heaven spelled backwards). Nice name, just EVERYONE copies it.

is it a spanish name or other ethnicity..must have some kind of special meaning to them..we gave my ds a unusual name..and it's often mistaken for a last name..doctor's office are always confused..

The parents may think it's great, but usually the kids have problems at school with unusual names, and wind up with nick names. When teachers get their class list at the beginning of the year ( before school actually starts ) and they go over the names, you should see some of the eye rolling that goes. Experience has taught teachers, that quite often with the unusual first name comes a difficult parent.
I thought that pommes was french for potato ????

la pomme de terre frite - french fries or fried potato , actually a Belgian term. People in Belgian speak french and then the belgian language, which I think is called flandern

There is unusual and there is archaic and there is just plain weird. I would rather have an unusual or archaic name than the same name as 5 other people in my class or such a weird name, that I get teased or picked on.

A lot of the old names are coming back. Honour (or Honor) is one of them. Others are Hope, Faith, Charity, Jacob, Isaac, Ezra, Peter. Better than the 4th Emily in a class.

Did some more digging and came up with this one

The word pome comes from the French word pomme (which means apple, also the root of Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruits). Interestingly, the French word for potato is pomme de terre, or "apple of the earth."

So I guess Gwyneth little girl is " apple of the earth" LOL
