I was getting my things together this afternoon so that I could be ready to go when the time came that I could leave for the evening. At the same time, the telephone rang and my girlfriend starts talking to me. About 1 minute later, I hear a knock on the door. It is two friends of my husbands from years ago.
I know I had my wallet in my hand as I invited them in, I motioned for them to come in (still on the phone) and pointed toward the table for them to sit down. I placed my wallet WITH my cell phone and keys and moved them to the computer desk.
I turned around to tell my friend I had to go and I hung up the phone. When I turn back around, I start talking with the boys and go into the kitchen for 1 minute and return.
They stay for about 45 minutes and say they will come back again later when dh gets home from work. Ok, no problem I have to get my act together again so I can leave when son gets off the bus. BYE!!
So they leave. I wait for about 5 minutes outside for son to get off the bus so I won't miss him (they won't let him off unless they see me) so I come in the house to get the keys, cell phone, wallet, etc.......NO WALLET!!
I search and search and search some more. I asked the kids if one of them took it for a joke. My daughter wouldn't have hidden it for that long because shse was looking forward to going shopping and my son hadn't even been home so it couldn't have been him.
WTF I am thinking. I search EVERYWHERE even in the fridge/freezer for goodness sake. I had put away a soda for my daughter so I thought maybe I had put it down by accident in there............NOPE.
This whole time I am thinking I am just going crazy that I must have put it somewhere and just can't remember. I tore the house apart for about 3 hours and can't find it anywhere.
It HAD TO BE one of those guys that came over. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. Funny thing is, I KNOW it is them if it isn't in my house because I had JUST walked in from the store about 3 minutes earlier and had my wallet in my hand.
They never came back tonight either after they said they were coming back to see dh.
So now I am wondering what to do about it.
I already transferred all my money out of my account and noted the time that I noticed it gone so that I can go to the bank in the morning.
I am going to tear my house apart one more time before I leave in the morning and hope that I end up finding it but I am afraid what is going to happen when they come back here.
I am so sad.
