I love Walmart but never really did a full grocery shopping. I am loyal to my grocery store, read the ads, have the coupon holder with them all organized. Just got a brand new Walmart and I am thinking maybe I should grocery shop there. I know they accept coupons but not double them. Does anyone feel they save more money at Walmart or the grocery store? Also does Walmart have weekly ads of sale on groceries??

Re: Walmart groceries??
we have a SuperWalmart in oyur town, and I don't shop for groceries there. I do use our home town grocery store "Stater Brothers" which is a southern California store, and has low prices, stocks stores to the local needs, and has a fresh butcher counter that can cut, order and have what ever meat you need. They also have a very fresh sea food counter.
I use Walmart for some things, but not groceries

Re: Walmart groceries??
We only have one grocery store within 40 miles other than our WalMart. We shop the ads from the grocery store but buy most things at WalMart except meat. We buy meat from a meat market or from Sam's when we go to the next town. Their meat is much better than WalMart's.

Re: Walmart groceries??
I am a little leary about the meats, seem recalls always Walmart is in there. Maybe I will go once a month to stock up on pantry things. It just seems lately my grocery store's ads are not that great for me. My grocery store does not have fresh butcher or fresh seafood guy. Fry's other stores do have them but not near me, it is all package.

Re: Walmart groceries??
I drive past our Super Wal Mart to get to Krogers or Meijers. Our Wal Mart has a nice bakery, but they have weird brands of lunch meat and their fresh veggies and fruit are high priced and don't look great-bruised, wilted, etc.

Re: Walmart groceries??
We have one grocery store other than the super WalMart. WalMart has more stuff... and the other has no fresh seafood/fish, altho I've not been thrilled w/ the look of WalMart's fish and have never bought it, perferring frozen shrimp/fish. Seems like we always need stuff in WalMart other than food and one-stop shopping there is just easier. Babe thinks WalMart's prices are better."What fresh hell is this?" Dorothy Parker

Re: Walmart groceries??
You can’t beat their prices to the “gourmet” food chains.
Our Super WM is only a few minutes away and I buy a lot from them. The only meat I buy is chicken but a brand name (Perdue). I buy the rest of the meat and about 1/2 my produce elsewhere.

Re: Walmart groceries??
If I'm at Walmart and need something for a recipe, I will pick it up, but I dont buy groceries there because to me, the prices are so much steeper. I bought a seedless watermelon there on Saturday and it cost $6.79. When I went to the local grocery store later on that evening, much larger seedless watermelons were $3.50. I was really ticked off!

Re: Walmart groceries??
We have Super WalMarts all over town, but I don't shop for grocery's there, never have. I buy my stuff at our local HEB stores or the military commissary. When the super walmart closest to our house opened years ago, we went to check it out and bought some deli lunchmeat, they don't carry Boarshead lunch meat which I prefer, so we bought their brand and it was awful, threw it out.

Re: Walmart groceries??
Boarshead is the only lunch meat I buy also. Yes, it costs more, but is so much better, no preservatives. My store is real close to my house, so I just buy enough for 3/4 days, and then I go back to the store. Have you tried their bacon and franks ?
I am less then 10 minutes outside of the Air Base, so going to the Commissary is no big deal, some prices are less then the regular grocery store, some are not. And of course you pay no tax. I buy most of my papergoods there. We have a brandnew commissary , such an improvement over the old one. It's a pleasure to shop there now.

That is where DH comes in handy, working so close for the time being, he stocks up on his way home. Makes it easy for me. The gas would kill me if I made the trip often.
Don't forget the surcharge they zap you with at the Commissary also.
Our's won the year award or something like that. I don’t see how. LOL

Re: Walmart groceries??
I have always detested Wal-Mart, not because of anything they carry, just their lack of customer service. I still buy all my groceries there except my dairy and fresh meats. I have learned that I am all on my own there and no longer expect to ask for any help, so I no longer get ticked off when I go there and there is no one in sight. The prices are soooooo much better than any of our local grocery stores that I have no choice but to go there as a conscientious shopper. The weekly specials at the other stores may be better and in that case I will make a trip to them. I am also a brand name shopper. I DO NOT buy store brands because I have tried them before and they do suck in my opinion. My Wal-Mart carries all the name brands that I like so I am happy about that. Wal-Mart will also match the others ads so I do use those on occasion to get a better deal. They are usually pretty good at even beating the ads by one or two cents!
I am less than 2 miles from our Super Wal-Mart. It is also very clean. I will not shop in a dirty store.Visit my blog at: http://midlifemotherhood45.blogspot.com/
