OK - help me with this

I'm pretty upset with Scott right now and need to mull this over before I open my mouth.

We just received a huge box, maybe 45 lbs, of medical records. He wants me to have Linda drive them to an attorney's office over in Spokane, about 35/40 miles from here. Linda is our receptionist/file clerk. I told him I'm not going to ask her to do that. He is pissed. "Then you can just do it." I told him I'm not driving them over to Spokane. He wants to know why. I told him I thought it was above and beyond a reasonable request to ask of either of us.

Do you think it is an unreasonable request?

Well is he going to reemburse someone for the gas and pay extra for having to lift 45 lbs? If not, I would not waste my gas.

There is always a messenger service. Of course that would mean he would have to pay for it. He could take them himselves. I have no clue if it is a reasonable request or not, don't know if it is part of your job description or not. Have you ever done it before ?

I'm surprised you even ask whether or not this is reasonable - after as long as you have worked for him you should know whether or not he would reimburse for gas. After that is resolved, there is not question but that you do as your employer requests. This is what is wrong with this country today - no respect for authority and no willingness to give your all unless it pleases you. Having worked as a paralegal for 20+ years, I know they can be demanding but I was never a doormat but a very valued employee who could be counted on when I was needed.

We run to the bank, post office or court house. But all within about a 2 mile radius. She gets paid .25 cents a mile for mileage plus her wage. So, 20 extra bucks for gas. Which I doubt would even cover the gas for her round trip.

It just irks me. It's not like the attorney over there is going to open and start pouring over these today. He won't even look at them until next week sometime and they'll be there Monday or Tuesday if we put them in the mail today.

This isn't even for one of our cases. It's for a golf buddy.

I called a courier service. They'll deliver for 15.00. But I'm still irked that he was so demanding and such an asshole about it.

I'd probably have jumped at the opportunity to get out of the office and might have taken my time going and coming back! But I'm a slacker that way...

I'd agrees with luvs. Take them. Fill the tank and and extra $20 for a nice lunch. Maybe both of you gals should go and really do it up. Piss him off good! Revenge can be sweet!

Driving terrifies me. Driving in the "city" paralyzes me.
I do okay in my lilttle downtown area where I can pop up and down the side streets or alleys, but don't get me out of my comfort zone.
Highway driving doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I love to get on the highway and just cruise. *go figure*

Anyway, I called at 3:00 Friday afternoon to make sure they received the meds and they were already closed for the weekend, so they didn't get them until today and I would have wasted a trip anyway! (And I called and told her they were on the way, she never said anything about closing early on Fridays.)
