  • Whole Bananas to Mashed Bananas

Approximately how many bananas would make up 2 1/3 cups of mashed bananas?

    Any ideas?

    TIA!

I would go with 4, but depends on how BIG your nanas are. Oh and by the way....how rotten do bananas need to be in order to make bread?

I wait till they turn dark or almost black. You can also freeze them mased to use later.

I usually wait until I think it's almost gross. LOL. My DH says THROW THEM AWAY!!! He hates it when I make it, just likes to eat it. Cuz I have some here that are past how I like to eat them and are pretty soft, was just curious how long I had to wait. I've made banana bread tons of times, but never tested the how long theory.

I have actually made banana bread when the bananas were a touch less ripe than I would prefer. It still came out okay, altho you have to really mash the sh#t out of them or else they stay in pieces as they bake.

2 1/3 cups--more like 5-6 I would think, since every banana bread recipe I have ever seen says 1 cup mashed banana (3 medium)

Oh, and if you want those nana's to hurry up and get disgusting, put them in a paper bag on the counter. Speeds up the ripening.

            Thanks everyone!

I love the freezing idea. I'll just mash all the ones I have and freeze whatever's left over, after the 2 1/3 cups.

I throw the whole banana into the freezer without a bag. The peel keeps the inside fine and I just put them in a bowl to thaw out when I need them.

For anyone that's interested, 2 1/3 cups of mashed bananas ended up being just under 6 medium sized bananas.
