  • Savannah Foody Tour

My DH and I want to take this tour but want to make sure its worth the money and that we do get to eat at the Lady and Sons Restaurants (Paula Deen's).

Has anyone taken the tour? Is it worth it? Where did they take you to eat?

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Re: Savannah Foody Tour

I have been to Savannah several times and to Lady and Sons a few times. This appears to be a new tour. My understanding is you only get to taste a few things from each place and this gives you an idea of whether you want to go back to that place to eat or not. If you go to Lady and Sons they start taking names for lunch around 10 a.m. and for dinner around 3 p.m. There is another place we really enjoy "Mrs Wilkes Boarding House". Food is served family style and very interesting who you may be sitting at the table with. We have had meals with people from Australia, etc. Food is really good too. Hope this helps.

We just got home from Savannah last week. We got to the Lady and Sons at 2:30 PM and they gave us reservations for 6:30PM. You can order off the menu but we ate the buffet. fried chicken some kind of fish, green beans, collard greens, black eye peas, salad bar, oh yeah pot roast and you get a hoe cake and cheese biscuit that a lady brings aroun, tea and a dessert they bring out and you select one. It was around $18.00 a piece but very good. She has a tour adv but they had not started them yet. We took a trolly night ghost tour-fun. savannah has so much great history I could have stayed much longer.

I wonder how often Paula and her boys are at the restaurant? With all her shows it's a wonder if she ever goes there. I didn't believe what I read a while back, and it said Jamie and Bobby still work there daily..

I totally agree with kyblue. We skipped PD's place for Mrs. Wilkes and what an amazing treat! I can't wait to go back!
