Camcorders: Don't understand the difference

I want to buy a new camcorder. They have the following types:
DVD
Mini DVD
hard disk drive
High Definition
Flash memory

I have no idea what all these are. I just want a camcorder!! Can anyone explain the difference?

I can only help w/ the DVD and mini DVD ones. The mini DVD fits into the big DVD place in your player and I guess it could make the camera be able to be smaller. I got a regular DVD recorder and love it. Don't know about all the others, I'm afraid.

if you want to go into the future hard drive based is where it's at.

Do these have something to do with the computer? I only have a CD drive on mine, no DVD drive

Also, the reason I am getting one is to record my son's graduation. I will be in the balcony of a very large church so he will be far down there. So a good zoom with a good pic will be nice.

Probably the real questions are what is your budget, operating system, and what else are you planning on using it for.
