  • Tanning Beds

I'm getting ready for my Caribbean cruise in Sept. Started today with a tanning bed package for that ALL OVER glow.....does anyone on CC use a tanning bed and if so do you use any of the darkening oils prior to using the bed? The salon where I go has dozens of different darkening oils but I really want to know if they work to make you tan quicker or darker?

    TIA!

Yeah, I know, I know... But, I usually do a few tanning sessions before we open our pool each summer. That way I can stay out for HOURS without getting burnt.

I don't use the tanning accelerator lotions and oils. I go more for the extra moisturizing lotions etc...You definitely want to use lots of moisturizer when you're tanning, especially applying right before you tan..

Well, I have to say that I use a tanning bed all winter. Once a week for 10 minutes makes such a difference to my mood. (I have SAD) I suggest you have a long talk with someone at the salon. They are (supposedly) trained in skin types and which lotions are best.

Also, you will build up a tan faster and safer by tanning more often and for shorter periods at a time.

            my daughter is 19

she's been in the tanning beds three times, unlimited tanning before her proms, 30 days, shops closed sundays and mondays... and then for two weeks before our cruise.

this past spring she's had 2 spots removed. Both were cancer. one on her hip and the other on the back of her shoulder.

please, just be happy with whatever your skin color is. tanning is not worth it.

"Supposedly" is the operative word there.

Read this really interesting article on sunscreens the other day. I use a 30 SPF and the brand I bought is number 389 on the list of effectiveness!!
