  • Secrets of Resturant Chef again with salt

    Did anyone see this show again?? She made lamb. I don't know why but I have to watch this show just to see all the salt she can use. Can't wait til next week to see what she will be cooking & the salt. People must be writing Food Net about it. This is beyond healthy. I love salt too but not at that point.

    I have noticed the large amounts of salt that a lot of these cooks use. It's always a pinch of salt here or a tsp of salt there. It looks like an aweful lot to me. I only watched a little bit due to friends visiting me but I noticed the amount of salt too. Then again I have this same problem with fast food places and the salt they put on their fries with McDonalds being the worst. What happened to the true nature of food and salting and peppering only after you taste it. Everyone talks about low calorie diets then they throw all this salt in it which is bad for cholesterol and blood pressures and stuff. I think I am going to write in and complain cause it is just too much.

      When she made the Pasta Bolognase last Sunday...when she threw in that handful of salt...it made my husband raise up off the couch and look and me and say, "did she just throw in a handful of salt?"
      I couldn't believe it and then she did it a second time...I was blown away and I could just see my blood pressure soaring...I wonder if this is truly what happens in resturant kitchens??? How do we the public know what's going on??

        I agree. We need to call these restaurants on this stuff. Why does a recipe need 2 handfuls of salt. My DH was talking about this. It's nice to be able to go out to eat but we have to worry about MSG's (for some people), salt intake, sugar intake, fat intake, and it almosts makes it not worth going out if we have to ask about everything. How do we get them from using the salt like it is nothing? If anyone has any ideas let us know cause I will be on that bandwagon.

          I was watching RR yesterday and she put in a load of salt too! My nephologist would die if she saw that!

            I always wonder how RR 's recipes really taste ? The ones she fixes on the show, she never measures, she always just eyeballs everything, of course she is the only one who tastes things at the end, and she isn't going to tell the truth if it is awful. LOL
