  • coffee pod machine?

DH wants one of the new coffee pod machines. I know we had one a while back cant remember the name of it...it made nasty coffee he said. (I dont drink coffee so I wouldnt know). But now they have 2 newer models out:

One is made by Keurig and they carry the green mountain, gloria jeans. emeril, ghiradelli, and newmans own brands of beverages. http://www.keurig.com/

The other is Tassimo and they carry Starbucks, tazo, gevalia, maxwell house, seattles best, twinnings brands. http://www.tassimodirect.com/tassimo/index.aspx

Does anyone have either of these machines? Do you like them? what do you like/dislike about them? Thank you so much in advance!

I have a Senseo and I love, love it. I don't know about the ones you mentioned other than I've heard of them. I don't regret getting rid of my old coffee pot, that's for sure!

My BIL is a truck driver, he has one in his truck, don't know the brand, and he loves it.

        Re: coffee pod machine?

We don't own one but have used the one at our local library, it is Keurig, wonderful selection of coffee, teas etc. Quick and easy. Very good. Not sure I would buy one for my own home as we make a 12 cup pot every day. But then we used big mugs for our coffee.

I do think the coffee pod pkgs are expensive but then if you only use one or two a day probably not.

Don't now anyone else who has a pod machine.

I can't make coffee... I have tried and failed many times over. (Probably because I personally don't drink it) Anyway, I have a senso for guests. As long as I keep it clean by running that coffee maker cleaning powder every month or so and use fresh cold water for one run through before using more for the coffee, it seems to work just fine. (at least that what guests say)

I dont drink coffee either...DH has one cup (maybe) every morning and 1-2 cups on the weekend.
I drink tea (ALL DAY LONG), and DD will drink hot cocoa just to "get in on the hot beverage act" so to speak.

Keep hearing that Keurig is an "office" based unit, but they just made the same model only smaller for home use.....

But also heard that "Martha" was pushing the Tassimo.....

                Re: coffee pod machine?

I used to have the Melitta One on One with coffee pods - hated it and gave it away. I have since purchased a Keurig machine with three different sizes for your cup 5oz, 7 oz, 9oz. The Keurig uses K-cups - not pods) and is a much better quality product. If you log
onto their website, you can see the different flavors of coffee, tea and hot chocolate. There are many different brands - Green Mountain, Gloria Jeans etc. So many flavors that you can't even count them. You can also buy the K-cups at BB&B, but of course, the selection isn't as great. I bought the Keurig because every professional office that had these types of coffee makers always had the Keurig instead of the Tassimo. This week, I was at my doctor's office and they had a new Keurig commerical machine that also automatically disposed of your used K-cup. If you open the chamber where you put the K-cup after your coffee was brewed - it was gone! Good luck.

                  Thanks everyone!
Looks like we are going with the Keurig K-Cup (middle model). I have seen it in many offices, and now I know why...LOL.
I am not a coffee drinker, but DH is and doesnt like the one we have now. I also had the One to One and HATED IT...thats why I was reluctant to go that route again.

                  Thank you all
