  • Anyone ever ordered plants from Burgess Seed & Plant Co?

I got their catalog. Of course, I want one (or 10) of everything... and someone to come and plant them all. Ever ordered from them? If I order bushes, am I paying for a 3-inch high seedling?

I got 10 free trees from the Audobon Society... 10 sticks was more like it, but I planted 'em and they're going to be TREES someday! Well... 8 of them will be. 2 didn't fare so well in the mailing.

Anyone had good luck w/ any plant company?

I Ordered A Climbing Rose Bush, But From Where I Am Not Sure. But The Plant Is Doing Great. It Has Grown Abour 3 Ft And Has Tons Of Buds. I Also Ordered Some Zebra Grass (i Think From Springhill Nursery) That Is Not Doing So Well, But I Don't Think It Goes Not Get Enough Sun Where I Planted It. And Then A While Ago Some Postd About Free Plants And I Ordered Some Lilies And They Are Doing Well Also--they Are About To Bloom.

I have ordered many trees and plants in past years online. It is best to buy at a local nursery but if I do buy online I will ONLY buy from 'Starks' now. Lost too much from things that didn't make it.

I have bought from them and also other online gardening sites and I've had great results! My favorite is Exciting Gardens.com. The bushes that I have bought looked like sticks for about the first month or 2 after I planted them, but then they flourished! The butterfly bushes that I bought last year that looked like an 8-inch twig are about 8 feet tall this year and have had to be cut back twice already. Also bought tons of Rose of Sharon bushes to make a hedge with and they're about 4 feet tall this year and blooming beautifully. They looked like 12 inch sticks when I planted them last year. Have to add that the Only thing I was disappointed with was the "Giant Thuja Trees" that I bought. Theyre evergreens that were supposed to grow at least 3 feet a year. Its been a year and they're only about 8 inches tall.
