  • No fashion sense..need help

I will be attending a formal wedding in Aug. I have bought a wonderful 40's type dress that hides my flaws, however, it is a midi- about 4-5 inches above my ankles. What kind of shoes would be best to wear?

Is the dress real busy? Or more of a solid? Are you comfortable in heels? What color(s) in the dress? Is it straight or flouncy at the bottom? What material?

If you wear flats, you will look very squat because of the lenght of the dress. High heels would be best, but even a modest heel would be better than flat shoes or sandals. As for colour, almost anything goes but I would co-ordinate with a small purse.

The description of the dress- "Elegance- from the days of Harlow and Carol Lombard, Colberta and Wallis Simpson with it's plunging neckline and handkerchief frilled sleeves and hem, this rose appliqued sequin trimmed evening dress recalls the couture of the 1930's. when sophistication drew the eyes of the starstuck public." 100% rayon georgette black with roses trailing down the entire dress.

As I say, it is mid tea length. I am thinking shoes with an ankle wrap strap. black sounds best as a red that match the roses may be too weird.

                i have heard it said

the shorter the dress, the flatter the shoe

but i truly think it's up to you

Yes, black strappy heels should really look nice. If the sequins are silver, you might even be able to go with silver shoes.

I think a black strappy sandal would be great.
