I don't want to get involved in this little chat but here is an fast easy way for cholesterol, no carbs, salt, sugar. Yep no fun but exercise is so important plus losing weight which will happen if you eat so healthy. If you lose weight then cholesterol will go down you don't even need those pills. Get the blood checked every 6 months. As for me, I don't do it as much as I should but I do try to watch. DH has been doing this since Jan., hope you like fish or chicken too. Really boils down to change of lifestyle, I know it is not that exciting but it works.

Roset, I weigh 132 and my cholesterol is 411 and I'm on pills. I don't know why it's so high.
I don't eat beef. I live on chicken and turkey breasts. I do eat alot of bread, but I only buy bread that has zero cholesterol. Spray butter is my best friend. None of the food in my house has cholesterol. The only thing I don't do is excerise. I do walk my dog, but it's not power walking. It's more like sniff walking. I go in soon for another round of blood work to see if the pills are helping. Oh, and I do watch my salt and sugar intake, but carbs is another story. Gotta have my bread and potatoes.

Oh Jana, I think you got those bad genes. DH is 5'8" and he was really going crazy weighing over 205lbs, eatting deli & all bad foods, his Dad had bypass who is 82yrs eatting bad stuff, they are Italian. They can control it with food, but seems you are thin and have this problem. I think the pills are good for you. In our case it was bad food & lack of excerise. Jana that's not fair, you are thin, and eatting healthy.

Jana, my MIL weighs probably 100 pounds soaking wet and is about 5'1" and she has high cholesterol. I do believe it is in her genes She has been taking medicine for about 6 years and still has to watch what she eats.

That is a pretty cool site. I emailed her the link. Thanks!

Thanks Allie, for the link. I really do believe I have the bad gene. I don't have any of the symptoms for a thyroid problem. I keep thinking I'm a walking time bomb.

jana, a thyroid is a strange thing. You won't always have all the symptoms. Has your doctor done any other kinds of tests to try and find out if there is something else causing it?

Jana, when my 97 lb daughter was on Accutane it was discovered that she too had high cholesterol. We're very careful with her diet - all of our diets - since it's in DH's family and he needs to be careful too.

What we found what was very successful is the Omega 3 pills. No fish taste! You can take 2-4 a day and they really helped her a lot !

I can't figure this out. They say don't eat eggs because they are high in Cholesterol, yet they say eat chicken, where the hell did the eggs come from?

Processed foods and sugar are really bad for the cholesterol.
