I have some red potatoes and I am just wondering if I can use them to make french fries?? I normally use russets. I have never used the red ones before.

Re: Red potatoes: HELP PLEASE
THEY MAY NOT CRISP UP LIKE REGULAR FRIES, RED POTATOES ARE SOFTER, I'VE OVEN BAKED FRIES WITH THEM, TASTED GOOD, BUT NOT AS CRISPY.
I DID THESE THIS WEEKEND WITH MY RED POTATOES, THEY WERE REALY GOOD. I PROBABLY () PUT A LITTLE MORE OLIVE OIL ON THEM THAN CALLED FOR, BUT WE REALLY ENJOYED THEM.

Re: Red potatoes: HELP PLEASE
Nu, I love that recipe, but I am doing TLT's tonight and I thought I would surprise DH with some fries because I NEVER do that! *L*
I am going to make that recipe this weekend when we do steak. I am going to use fresh chives and dollops some sour cream on a few of them afterwards!Visit my blog at: http://midlifemotherhood45.blogspot.com/

There is a recipe from Kraft Food & Family that I am going to try soon. (With bacon and cheese, how could you go wrong
Roasted Red Potatoes with Bacon & Cheese

1/2 cup KRAFT Finely Shredded Italian* Five Cheese Blend
1/4 cup OSCAR MAYER Real Bacon Bits
2 lb. small red bliss potatoes, quartered (about 6 cups)
1 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Mix dressing, cheese and bacon bits in large bowl. Add potatoes; toss lightly.
SPOON into lightly greased 13x9-inch baking dish; cover with foil.
BAKE 40 min. Remove foil; bake an additional 15 min. or until potatoes are tender. Sprinkle with parsley.

Re: Red potatoes: HELP PLEASE
I actually prefer using the red potatoes over a russet. Quarter them and deep fry them. They may not be crispy, but they sure are good! PS... Be sure & leave the skins on!Have you made time to listen to the birds today........

Re: Red potatoes: HELP PLEASE
I ruined them
I decided to just wash them and slice them like regular fries. I then sprayed a cookie sheet with olive oil Pam. Then I just spread them out over the sheet and sprayed them lightly with more olive oil and sprinkled some sea salt because I was out of kosher salt. They were baking fine and my brother and SIL stopped by and we got to talking, and I BURNED them to a crisp! We just had our TLT's and dumped the fries. I didn't need them anyway!!!!
I do love all the recipes and will definitely use them. Thanks everyoneVisit my blog at: http://midlifemotherhood45.blogspot.com/

Re: Red potatoes: HELP PLEASE
Oh Cindy, I am sorry, I have to laugh, because that is something I would do. When my son was little I would make grilled cheese sandwiches, and while cooking, I would read a magazine, paperback, etc. And of course I would usually burn the sandwich. The joke to this day is, that when the smoke alarm goes off, the sandwich is done, well done. LOL

Re: Red potatoes: HELP PLEASE
Michael prefers mashed potatoes made from red potatoes. That is why I had them, but I just bought a few too many. I love to dice red potatoes and sprinkle hidden valley ranch dressing powder over them and then roast them. They are soooooo good.
I don't think I have ever had fingerling potatoes????Visit my blog at: http://midlifemotherhood45.blogspot.com/
