What's shampoo is good for oily hair? There are a lot of products for dry hair but not much for oily.

    Re: Oily hair

I had a problem with my daughter as she was going thru puberty, my SIL is a hairdresser and she told me to wash your hair with a grease cutting dish detergent before washing your hair in your regular shampoo,,,it worked. Or try a rinse with vinegar.

Chop will be good at this she has been a barber, but my g/f is a hairdresser & said shampoos that are clear are good for oily hair. Not the kind that are creamy guess they have oil in it. How about clarified shampoos, don't they strip the oils out? I really don't know.

I have oily hair. It made a huge difference when I started washing, rinsing, and repeating. Instead of once.

            Re: Oily hair

redken has/had a product just for oily hair. dont remember the name and i cant find it on their site. but it was the best for oily hair! dh's friend in cali would look like an oil slick when he would get home from work every nite. i know it helped him a lot! go to a redken dealer and hopefully they will know what i am talking about and that it is still being made. if u find it.......i know it will be pricey, but it only takes just a little bit to clean.

the detergent thing will help also, but u will take the risk of drying out not only the hair, but the scalp as well.

conditioning? is the hair long? sholder length? try not to condition near the scalp and if the hair is long.....go for just anything that is past the sholders. that helps also.

I use Prell when I have conditioner build up or flat hair. My hair is very long and it gets oily at the roots. I change shampoos frequently, but the Prell is really good for keeping the oiliness away.
