My friend had gastric bypass, and when she was still on liquids just converting to some solids, needed high protein, I made her egg drop soup. She loved it!!

My brother and sister in law had this surgery--They ate alot of yogurt, potato soup, pudding, jello and some jello salads-my brother ate the orange sherbert jello salad all the time.

Thank you for being a friend and understanding her needs. You'd be amazed how many people try to sabatage their friends who have wls. If she hasn't found the website
www.bariatriceating.com, please tell her about it......great support group, good accurate information, and lots of good recipes broken down into the various stages of the wls journey.

Here's one of the favorite recipes during the mushies stage; since she is a cheesecake person she'll love this.

            Cappacino Pudding

            4 eggs, beaten
            2 1/3 cup milk
            ½ cup Splenda Granular
            2 tablespoon instant coffee granules
            ½ teaspoon vanilla
            1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
            pinch of salt
Whisk all together and pour into 6 – 6ounce custard cups OR 8 – 4ounce cups. Place in a 9X13 pan and fill with 1 inch hot water. Bake at 325 for about 25-30 minutes. Do Not Overbake. Should still be jiggly in the middle. Chill or serve warm.

            ==========

            Cheesy Egg Bake

            Makes eight servings. Per serving: 202 Cal; 16 g Protein; 12 g Tot Fat; 7 g Carb; 0 g Fiber; 3 g Sugar; 272 mg Sodium

Protein-packed and easy, it can also be adapted to include your favorite things -
            \
            6 eggs, beaten
            1/4 cup flour
            1 teaspoon baking powder
            1/8 teaspoon salt
            1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning (I prefer taco seasoning)
            1 cup milk
            1 cup cottage cheese
4 ounces reduced fat cream cheese, cubed
            1 cup cubed sharp cheddar

            Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Beat eggs with flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and milk. Stir in cottage cheese, cream cheese, and cheddar. Pour into lightly greased 9x9 pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until golden, puffed and just set in center.

Thank you so much Gayle! The recipes you shared sound delicious I will shared with her the www too. You know I have to say that I admire Sara, my friend who had the lap band procedure. She's a young and beautiful girl. For "whatever" reason her weight got out of control. It's my understanding that the procedure is a life changing experience.... in more ways then one. I have a difficult time even thinking about not being able to eat, even a small amount, of my favorite dish. In time, I guess she will. She had the procedure about 2 weeks ago. To date, even with the prep.. she has lost 25 lbs. She and some of our other friends always come to my house "Mama Beths" for dinner Our dinners are changing so that we can all help & support Sara. Thanks again for the recipes & the link Beth

Re: Lap Band surgery - after meals

Tell her it gets easier and it is sooo worth it!! She won't have any restriction til she's had 2-3-4 fills so she's just got to hang tough til that happens. After that it gets much easier.....she's got to be patient and be a grown-up about it. I lost 160 lbs in 18 months and it changed my whole life. I'm happy that she's doing this for herself at a young age.....maybe she won't waste a lot of years like I did and won't let her health deteriorate like it would inevitably do if she doesn't get rid of the pounds. Best wishes to her!!

She really needs to find some protein supplements that she loves. Lindora makes a great cheesecake high protein SF pudding, just the right size for a wls patient....also a dulce de lech pudding that's good. Their other products are too high for what they are but those are great, esp. for early on.
