Anyone ever made Falafel?

I tried it tonight and it bombed big time. I got all the ingredients together in the food processor and it looked like hummus. I added alot of flour to make little balls, fried them, and they were horrible! It all went in the garbage and I ordered a pizza.

I just had some on Tuesday with my Gyro.. I love the stuff ! I would think it would be hard to make.

I made it once for a cultural fair at work. It looked yummy, just like in the picture in the link above. But it was really horrible. I dont turn my nose up at many fried foods, but fried chickpea mush was not appetizing at all.

I've never tried it but, have heard it is delish. My co-worker makes it alot and she buys a falafel mix. Maybe you could look for one instead of homemade?

That is a very interesting and informative website Jana! I am very interested in trying some of the Jewish recipes. This sounds like a very tasty vegetarian style food..interesting...
I don't think it will be hard to make..(kind of like Hush Puppies.. get the oil the right temperature) Lol!

I'm not Jewish. I just googled it. LOL!! I wouldn't compare them to Hush Puppies.. JMO. Hush Puppies are better..

I was comparing the way they were cooked, hun. I have a really good Hush Puppy recipe. I don't usually like them because they are usually dry, but I LOVE them this way. Will submit it tomorrow if you are interested....((((Hugs)))))

Yum - we have a couple of middle Eastern restaurants in the area and their Falafals are wonderful - Crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Lots of lettuce and other veggies and sauce, etc.

I was always looking for a recipe cause all the mixes had some sort of gluten in them, but I've found one that doesn't. LOVE falafal!! I had a recipe for a while from marlaingermany... remember her?? I never tried it tho!!
