  • this lady needs help, she needs a recipe

this came in through our freecycle, can you help her?

I had a recipe for homemade ice cream and it has been lost or misplaced.
I lost my daughter in September and people were using my recipes and I
    lost this one.
It is in the Better Homes Cookbook...the older version. I have looked
in the newer ones and it is not in them.
I know that it called for milk, canned or condensed milk, eggs, vanilla
and sugar. If any of you could email me the recipe I would be forever
    grateful.
    God Bless,
    Kathy

It's not a BH cookbook but I do have a 1963 Pillsbury cookbook. Here's what it had:

      Rich Vanilla Ice Cream

      8 eggs
      2 1/4 cups sugar
      6 cups milk
      3 cups cream
      2 tablespoons vanilla extract

      Yield: 3 Quarts

Prepare freezer according to manufacturer's directions. In a saucepan beat eggs well: add sugar and milk. Cook, stirring constantly, just until mixture reaches boiling point. Coll, beating occasionally with rotary beater. When cool, add cream and vanilla extract. Pour into freezer can. Freeze as directed.

This one is from my grandmothers BH cookbook, & I'm 69, so this is old!

            2 egg yolks
            6 tbsp. sugar
            few grains salt
            1 c. rich milk, scalded
            1 tsp. vanilla extract
            2 stiff-beaten egg whites
            1 c. heavy cream

Combine egg yolks, sugar, & salt; stir in a little hot milk; add to remaining milk & cook in double boiler until slightly thick. Cool; add vanilla extract; fold in egg whites and cream, whipped to custard consistency. Freeze in tray of automatic refrigerator 3 to 4 hours, beating when first set. Serves 6 to 8.

You can tell by the directions, this one is really old. I have a BH that is "only" 50 yrs. old, but the page with the ice cream recipe is missing.
