Trying to lose weight (as always) and bought whole wheat flour. Can I just substitute it for white flour? I know the taste will be different, but what about the texture? Has anyone done this? What adjustments have you made to recipes?

Re: Can you substitute whole wheat flour??
It depends on what you are making. You can't really substitute in cakes or waffles or pancakes. For bread, quick breads and muffins, I believe you can substitute up to 2/3 of the amount. But there are loads of recipes that use whole wheat flour. It might be easier just to try a new recipe.Communicate. It can't make things any worse!

Re: Can you substitute whole wheat flour??
Thanks, Floridagirly, like the Kitchen Savvy site. Bean, I don't make bread. Just trying to cut carbs. Haven't made pancakes or muffins or even cakes much in the last year. Usually make them when someone is visiting or I have to take something somewhere. I was hoping buying whole wheat flour would force me to make baked goods healthier for us and still add some good tasting foods to our life. If you have any recipes that you like, please pass them on. e
