Just wondering, has anyone ever used powdered sugar in place of regular sugar in a recipe? Can it be done?

No. Powdered sugar contains a small percentage of corn starch to prevent it from caking and getting lumpy in the package, and that corn starch can throw off the flour/starch ratio in your recipe and make it too dry.

Powdered sugar is better in whipped cream that regular sugar. It makes it thicker and will keep in the refrig for several days.

Thanks for the answers. So far have not been in a bind for sugar, but you never know . The hint for using XXXX sugar in whipped cream is a good one. Will be trying that one. There is nothing like hand made whipped cream......................drooling here.
