When you make potato salad or macaroni salad..are you suppose to let them cool before adding mayo to them?

I've often read that you should mix your mayo into "warm potatoes or pastas" while still warm so it better absorbs the "flavor" of the mayo/dressing. But usually, I end up chilling my potatoes or pasta first because on the flip side of the "absorption theory", I feel that potatoes firm up better once cold and don't crumble up so much like when they are still warm when I'm trying to add the dressing to it.......not so much with pastas.The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.
Faith is believing in advance what already makes sense in retrospect. O:-)
