but I have finally be given the permission to share!! I am going to be a GRANDMA!! DD and SIL are expecting their first child (and my first grandchild which, in my mind is sooooo much more important ) in January!!!
Shoot, you're too late Wessnicki! And it really isn't a shopping thing. I love to sew and quilt and knit and basically anything to keep my hands busy. The grandbaby already has a crib quilt, 4 blue and 4 pink recieving blankets, a knitted crib afghan, a knitted hooded sweater (had to cut down the pattern from 9 month to 3 month size and that was a pain) a couple of sleepers (hey they were on 2 for 1) a Canada Day onesie and half a dozen bibs made with leftover material from DD's scrub tops (she's an NICU nurse)
First thing DD does when she comes out here, is to check the baby-stuff basket.
Oh and I'd love to be Nana or Nona (Italian) but I get the funny feeling I will end up being just plain Grandma--which is also okay.
Congratulations! I love being a grampa, my first (and only so far) granddaughter is almost 2 and I love every minute of it and can talk about her all day long.. I registered with www.grandparents.com, lol, there is a message board or more full of excited people like us..
My kids always called my folks gramma and grampa.. My wife's parents were called nana and papa.. When my DD had her DD I decided I would go with 'grampa', but Lia can't say G's or R's that well yet and it comes out 'papa', lol..
Oh Nu, I can hardly wait. I have drooled over your pics of you with your grandson, and now you're lucky enough to be getting a second one to spoil.
DD is 31. She always said that she wanted to have her family by the time she was 30. Well, I guess living is what gets in the way when you are planning your life. She has had a terrible time with morning sickness, lost 17 lbs., had to take 6 weeks off work because she just could not keep anything down. She is on 2 different anti-nausea medications from her OB and she isn't throwing up as much, but she still is nauseated almost all the time.
She has a doppler, so when she was out here, this week end, I got to here the baby's heart beat. It was soooo neat!!!
