I haven't seen this episode of Oprah, but I have read DeBecker's book. This should be a must-read for every female. The book "Gift of Fear" (survival signals that protect us from violence) is one of the best books I have ever read. I purchased 10 books and gave them out to women I felt would benefit by reading it. He details ways of avoiding becoming a victim of violence by paying attention to subtle clues. The one way to reduce risk is to learn what risk looks like. (his words, not mine) If you can find the book at a library, please give it a read. Knowledge is power.
