    Re: McCain's VP pick

Waiting for the official announcement, but it sounds like that's who he picked. I am so surprised, so surprised. I thought he would pick Mitt Romney. I have never heard of Sarah Palin, don't know anything about her. I need to google.

I am very close to Dayton, Ohio and the local news is going crazy speculating. I am surprised by the Alaskan gov. I still think it's Romney but we're supposed to get the news around noon.

I wish he had chosen Mitt Romney. I think he chose Sarah Palin only for the fact that she's a woman. He's trying to get the Hillary vote. Booooooooooo!

Totally agree!!! It may backfire on him though....

It feels like he's scrambling to be the "progressive" candidate. Look! I can pick a minority for a VP! I'm wondering if it will backfire for him. Has anyone even heard of this woman before?

I understand why he picked a woman, he wants the women's vote, but...... she is a total unknown. I can think of two women of hand with much more experience and exposure. Kay Bayley Hutchison, senator from Texas and Elizabeth Dole.
This reminds me of the time when Mondale picked Geraldine Ferraro, everybody said , who ?? And of course we know the end result.

Why would women vote for him JUST because he selected a woman VP? That makes it sound like the women who vote don't study the platforms. I'm not a big fan of McCain, so maybe I shouldn't judge.

                            Re: McCain's VP pick

I understand what you are saying, personally I wouldn't vote for someone just because he / she has a woman on the ticket or a black man running for President. But there are a lot of women out there who wanted Hillary on the ticket. Obama chose Biden and some of those women will not vote for Obama now, right or wrong, makes no difference, that's how it is. So McCain chose a woman to pick up those voters.
A lot of people, not just women , don't study the platforms, I would say most people don't. They just go with whoever sounds good on TV. JMHO
