Stella, funny that you are talkin about christmas. I was talking to my friend last night and she didn't want to think about it. Anyway hot item is the Wii again thats all I know. Can't believe another year almost gone.....

not sure the hot hot items are this year..my teenage boy..will probably want a iron man or batman video game..he's hard to shop for..it keeps telling me he doens't want anything..and not to worry about it..my soon to be adult daughter wants money for christmas..discovering that college can be expensive..

I have no idea what the hot teen items are, but I don' even want to think about christmas. Little hard to do when it is 100° + in the shade. But my local Hobby Lobby store is on the ball, the entrance lobby is full of christmas tree !!

we got the Wii last year. the wii, 4 remotes, and 14 games I went nuts over it all.
guess i could get rock star, or wii fit.??

my teenager loves gift cards so I buy starbucks, jamba juice, AMC movies, tanning, and massage gift cards for her.

gift cards are the hot thing.

but i won't buy them. If i gave gift cards then it's like they have to wait until almost march lol to get to use it, shelves are bare after christmas. and also, come christmas morning they have nothing, nothing to play with, nothing to put on, nothing to listen too.
i also don't feel it's very personal. it's like here, go pick out your own gift.

I realize everyone loooovvvves the ol gift cards. i get that. i realize they are cool.
and i know i am about the only one here who doesn't like them, but my kids don't like them either, they also don't like cash. they want the gift, home made, store bought or just a visit they are fine with that.

now i did give my son a wallet one year two years ago? and i loaded it up with gift cards, to sonic, mc d, hasings, wal mart. each had 5 or 10 on them. but that wasn't his gift.

I did not mean to imply that is all she gets that is just her stocking with other trats as well. She also gives me a list I pick from.

oh my gosh you are so lucky to get a wish list!!

i haven't gotten one of those in years from them, all i get now is "oh mom you know i will love anything you pick out" nothing like pressure lol

I did too, DD really wanted it so we caved and bought it with all the trimmings.

Over the summer, while in Lancaster, we stopped into the local Walmart and found the Wii stand, extra skins, nun-chucks, games cases, and varies other Wii items in the clearance aisle!!! We spent about $50 and got about $250.00 worth of stuff!!!

I don't mind getting gift cards. Our married kids give us a small gift each and then usually a gift card to Applebee's, Damon's, etc. Great for us, at our age we don't need anything.

We give our grandkids ( various ages - no little ones anymore ) a gift or two. The boys ( into hunting, fishing, etc ) a gift bag full of snacks and a gift card to Gander Mountain. Girls get a tote bag with tote bag with "girlie stuff" and a gift card to the Nail Salon & Spa.

Married kids get something for the house ( last year it was bread machines they all wanted and supplies to start baking ), then each get a small personal gift and gift card to one of their favorite restaurants. They love it. Give kiddies a shopping trip and Mama & Daddy a dinner treat out.
