  • Anybody ever made this recipe???

    How did it turn out???

    500-Degree Roast Beef
Rib roast, eye of round or rib eye roast
    Salt, pepper and flour
Have roast beef at room temperature. Dredge with salt, pepper and flour (use your favorite seasonings if you like).

Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Put roast in pan with rib side down, or put boneless roast on a rack. Roast for 5 minutes per pound. When roasting time is up, turn off oven heat. Do not open oven door. Let roast remain in the oven for at least 1 hour and up to 3 hours. The perfectly cooked roast will be pink in the middle and a delicious crusty brown on the outside.

If a more-done roast is desired, cook for 6 minutes per pound. Seven minutes per pound will produce an almost well-done roast.

I read a few like this and the cooking times vary in all them. Some say medium is 8 minutes.

A meat thermometer is a good tool to have. This way you can be so certain.

Bobby Flays wife made this for his birthday dinner one time on his show. She used a beef tenderloin instead. It looked really good but have never tried it before.

Yep, I have this recipe/method too......it's labeled as "Never Fail Prime Rib". Given to me by a dear co-worker years ago.

How many minutes per pound did you leave it bake at 500??? I have a 8 1/2 pound roast.

anxious to hear how this turned out.

                    500 degrees just scares me.

500 degrees doesn't scare me as much as turning off the oven and letting it sit there. What if it isn't done enough???
