  • What are these used for?

I was looking for a site to polish/shine some Lake Superior rocks ( Not Tumbling) and I ran across this site and just "Had" to see what Shiny Mudballs were. Does anybody know what these are used for?? http://www.instructables.com/id/shiny-mudballs/

ACCORDING TO THE SITE, STEP 4 SAYS:

step 4now you have a choise
now you can do one of these many options
1.sell it for some money (its outsider art that was hand made for hours with extream care)
    2.keep it
3.sell it to an art museum
4.give it as a gift (once again its priceledd hand made outsider art)
    5.post pics on the net
6.build hundreds of them and have a museum in your house or in another place (rv/moble home, internet, etc)
7.hold classes on how to make them

GUESS YOU CAN USE THEM FOR DECORATIONS IN POT PLANTS..... POTTED PLANTS I MEAN!

Looks like something my kids would have liked to do. New way to save those mud pies? How about sketti & shiny mud balls?

As for the Lake Superior rocks you could just use a high gloss sealer on them. Clear nail polish may work, you could even use a clear glitter nail polish to add some extra sparkle.

Nail Polish would probably work... BUT, I have about 300 pounds of them! Spent 3 whole days, non stop, picking rocks. Some are pretty big, then I got a bunch shaped like eggs. I want to gloss them up to bring out all the reds, oranges and greens and keep them outside. I even got one with a smiley face on it!

I've Seen Rock Polishers At Hobby Lobby, Even In The Kids Section Of Walmart. I Had One When I Was A Kid, Loved It. You May Try Getting One, Have To Do A Handfull Of Rocks At A Time. Unless You Want To Spend Alot Of Money For A Big One! Lol

I always wanted one of those, but like I said, I have way way too many and alot are way too big. I used to use baby oil on my Petoskies, made them look like they were polished, but these rocks absorb and dont keep the gloss, soooooooo Im gonna find a quick fix like spray laquer so I can get a buzz doing it LOL
