  • Goulash

Is a mish mash of stuff thrown together that there isn't really any other name for.
Usually includes ground beef, pasta and tomatoes.

What is "goulash" in your home?

        Re: Goulash

We are Croatian on both sides of the family.......so Goulosh or Gulyasleves from the "old country" to us is:

        beef chuck (cubed)
        salt & black pepper
        onions (white or yellow)
        lard or shortening
imported sweet Hungarian paprika (VERY important to use the real stuff for most authentic flavoring)
        bay leaves
        peeled and diced potatoes
        water
egg dumplings can be added as well (which is just egg, flour, salt)
The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Faith is believing in advance what already makes sense in retrospect. O:-)

            Re: Goulash

It is very similar to Paula Deen's recipe-ground chuck, tomatoes and tomato puree, macaroni, herbs & spices, onions, green pepper

              Diced or stewed Tomatoes
              Macaroni

                    Re: Goulash

Growing up in Germany, when I think of Goulash, I think of , what Americans, call beef stew. The dish with the ground beef is a dish I had never heard of until I came to this country. My former MIL used to make it a lot, and it was awful, but she called it hash???
