  • Should I not put lotion on scabs ?

I was thinking it would help the skin underneath, but it usually just makes the scab come off quicker. Anyone ?
I don't want buns of steel. I want buns of cinnamon !!!

Sounds like a question for Nurse Nu or any of our other nurses on this board.

If it's a fresh wound/sore, I'd wait a bit, use antibiotic oint. But if it's healing well, no problem using lotion, just watch to make sure it doesn't become infected. Don't use a lotion with a fragrance, it has alcohol in it and can/will irrigate and dry it out.

Of course, that comes from me, I'm a picker!! If I have a scab, I pick it, make the sore bigger and more sore! I can't help it, I pick at everything!!

Hi, My name is Jackie, I'm a habitual picker!!!

I was told by my doc once that keeping a scab moisturized will lessen the scarring.

I always thought it makes it moist and easier to come off.
