I loved Woolworths, Mom & I always ate at the counter, banana split you picked a balloon & you paid that price. I heard now that Circuit City is laying off some people, I think they may go too because Best Buy has really taken so many customers from them. Linnen N things are out now Mervyns too. Mervyns is in our mall so that will be a huge empty space. I really never found anything for me but DH loved that store.

Montgomery Wards...we always got to pick out our Christmas dress from there when we were little. It was a BIG deal for us!

We've recently lost our Kmart, Home Depot, Wendy's rest.

When I was a kid we went to:

            Zayres
            Woolco
            Woolworth
            J. M. Field's

These stores were like the Wal-Mart's of today.

In the northeast, we had Two Guys and E.J. Korvettes.

I just heard yesterday that Linen and things is going out of business. I don't know it it's just here in Texas or nation wide?

We used to have McAlpins, a department store, they had a great selection and return policy. well it was sold to Dillards, still a department store, but no where the same selection and the return policy seems to change whenever I need to return something.

Engel - I loved T G & Y as a kid. I would save my allowance and buy my Mom the most beautiful (well at the time I was 8 or 9) yellow bead necklace, bracelet and ring. She wore them proudly every Easter....God Love Mom's!
