Does anyone still make homemade jam cakes for the holidays.Christmas is usually the time when we have one.

4 eggs
2 cups sugar
1and1/2 cups margarine(softened)
1and 1/2 cups blackberry jam
4 cups self rising flour
1 and 1/2 cups buttermilk
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1 tablespoon allspice
1 cup nuts if desired
Beat eggs and add the rest of the ingredients. Bake 325 degrees for 40 minutes or till done.
Carmel Icing
1 stick butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
Cook butter and sugar together for 2 minutes.Add milk,let cool and add about 1 box confectioners sugar. If too thick add a little hot water.
I don't put icing on mine . We like it without the icing.
