  • International Adoption Experiences?

I have always dreamed of adopting after I have biological kids....(DD is 3 months) My bf (now 26) was adopted and I always thought it was such an amazing experience for both parents and child....I just wondered if anyone had any experiences they'd share with me? I've been researching it and it and South Korea looks like a good option because the children are in foster homes until adoption instead of an orphanage...but there is so many different decisions and questions...

Sorry Gess, I don't know anything about it. I'd just have to read and research, etc. same as you.
I'm sure there are websites out there with tons of information.

I have a few friends who have adopted from China. I asked them why they chose China instead of Romania or other countries (anyone remember those heart-wrenching ABC 20/20 shows about the thousands of Romanian children who were dumped at orphanages because of Romania's ban on birth control?).

Anyhow, my friend told me that in China the mothers usually get very good prenatal care and babies tend to be healthier. I've heard of adoptions from Romania where the children had severe learning disabilities and problems that could have been prevented with early intervention and good nutrition.

I don't know much about international adoption but my DD dated a boy that was adopted and had problems, seems he did find out his Mom was a drug addict & had problems. He always wanted to know his Mom but never could find her, I am glad he never did. His adopted parents are the sweet parents that really helped him out. Wonderful people. He still had feelings of finding his Dad & Mom. I would think they were not really good people. I hope he never finds them. I think he may be disapointed. His parents are his parents and are wonderful.
