I am sorry, but I have to hijack this one. I read the subject and thought "why does she want to know when our trees grow up?" And how would you know when a tree is grown without cutting it down. Does a trees acne go away? And that is how you know.

Can you tell I am now going on my third day of sleep deprivation? I can.

Re: when does your tree go up?

Ours will go up today along with all the other decorations. Have gathered up all my fall decorations, sat them in one pile to go up in the attic, then will bring down the Christmas ones. I find I am doing less and less each year and started doing more "fresh" arrangements and ambiance setting decorations........e.g. more real poinsettias, fresh garlands and centerpieces, pretty wreaths, white lights, etc. I still like my snow globe collection and my nativity scene, but I'm phasing out of all the knick-knacks. I used to put them in every nook and cranny. Now.......I absolutely HATE taking them down........I find it depressing on New Year's Day and cumbersome any more. I guess age has a way of doing that to folks......or maybe just ME!!! LOL

Haha, too funny Dragun!!!! I know what you mean about the sleep deprivation. I think I'll be going back to work for a "vacation" on Monday!!!! I've been trying to squeeze 10 lbs of potatoes in a 5 lbs bag this holiday weekend it seems!!!!

Re: when does your tree go up?

When DDs were quite young, the tree never went up until after they were in bed on Christmas Eve as Santa brought even the tree. Exhausting? Yes it was, but oh the looks on the little faces come morning was worth every minute.

Once Santa exited the picture, the earliest we would put the tree up would be perhaps the 20th of Dec. as I liked to have the tree well past New Year's.

Now living alone, I have a small 'charlie brown tree' that I may or may not get out. There are no grandchildren, and the granddogs don't give a hoot one way or the other whether or not there's a tree at "Mom Mom's house". LOL.

Re: when does your tree go up?

It is more of a hassle for me than a joy these days.
It's like moving in and moving out.
I think if it wasn't for my Grandchildren, I woudn't put up a tree. Just decorate with flowers and wreaths and centerpieces and religious Nativity of course.
              Im old and tired.
              Bah Humbug, huh?
Have you made time to listen to the birds today........

Re: when does your tree go up?

Babe loves a tree... he'll soon either dig one up from outside or "top" a bigger one off and haul it in. He's got a train set he LOVES to set up and I have a few ornaments from when the kids were little...

My SIL starts w/ hers on Black Friday... she decorates 20 trees... yes, I said TWENTY trees ... all thru her house... several big ones and a bunch of tiny ones.

We buy a real tree so, we don't usually put it up until 2 weeks before Christmas.

Re: when does your tree go up?

usualy it's this weekend, and we DIS-assemble on little Christmas (Jan 6th).
But DH and I were talking, it's going to be just too much with DS's surgery on the 9th. So we are putting up the tree, just not the decoration level I usually do. Sad really, I wanted a HUGE send off for him... oh well .

Re: when does your tree go up?

Angelbutterfly........my (identical) twin sons' birthdays are December 6th........which is also known as "St. Nicholas Day" in case you didn't know! I originally was due with them on 12/29. I was glad I had them early because it was still far away enough not to be overshadowed by Christmas like a lot of folks have to deal with on their birthdays. Plus with them having been my first pregnancy, I didn't want to spend Christmas or New Year's that year in the hospital (1982). They will be 26 this year.....hard to believe.

Here's to wishing you the best of everything in your upcoming new birthday year!!!

In year's past, the trees would have been up and the house would be completely decorated by now - I used to start on Thanksgiving, after the kids were in bed and DH was at work. I change dishes, shower curtain hooks, towels, etc. I am so tired this year that I can't think about getting ready for Christmas. I told my fimily htat for my Christmas present, I want help getting everything put away after Christmas. The worst thing to put away is the village - I lower the piano top and have the village there - each year they give me at least one house or people - I don't know how to tell them it's too much work. I need a big dose of Christmas cheer!!
