Re: when does your tree go up?

Janni.......I am so with you there with the energy levels and Christmas spirit being down. I said earlier today I was going to put up the tree and all the decorations, but in reality..........I ended up blowing the entire day off!!!! I physically feel better now because I took a nice long nap with my DD, who is only home until tomorrow @ noon. She heads back to where she goes to grad school (4 hrs away). She was exhausted too due to her school workload. I decided I will start it all tomorrow after she leaves to keep my mind off her heading back.

I awoke this morning feeling like I was hit by a Mack truck from 3 consecutive days of late nights and non-stop prepping for and hosting Thanksgiving, not to mention yard work yesterday. Since I hit 50 last year, my mind-set has changed drastically on how much I will do for the holidays from here on out. I don't know if that's good or bad.

Re: when does your tree go up?

I usually put mine up day after thanksgiving. not so this year. I.m still getting over grandaughters wedding last week . I did most of the catering but I do think this will be the last. I'm getting to old for this.,,,back to the tree. I may put it up next week. We will not be doing all the yard decorations as DH isn't up to the work it usually takes him 2-3 weeks for that. Probably the only thing in the yard will be the stable/nativity scene.it's huge and that takes time.Oh and I do have a christmas greeting sign we use. I may even hang the wreath on the door.
      I organize chores into catagories.
Things I won't do now; things I won't do later; things I'll never do.

That's funny Janni, I thought I'd be through menopause by 60 and have ALL my old energy back!!!

Re: when does your tree go up?

I have always put the tree up on the day after Thanksgiving. Didn't do it this year and have no desire to put it up at all. Just not in the Christmas spirit at all.

              maddison why?
please don't tell me it's about the money.
christams is not about the gifts. it's about the birth of jesus christ.
              that alone is worth celebrating!!!!!!

find peace this holiday season in a small child who has no food. help out at a food shelther or a soup kitchen. volunteer at hospice, reach out to others who are less fortunate, that'll boost ya up !
i was in a gloom mood last year, i do get it. but i had some school kids who had nothing. i helped them out. that was so nice.
our church does alot of local charity things. that's so awesome to bea part of.

reach deep in to your heart, you'll find that spirit. it's in there. !!!
sing a song, read a christmas book. read chicken soup for the christmas soul, i am sure there is one out there..
I just hold on tighter, to a hand that's stronger...he knows my every thought, he clears my weary heart, and hold's on tighter...

You are correct in a lot that you mentioned, Stella. Thanks for the suggestions and reminders of the true meaning of the season. I guess sometimes it's easier to stay a Scrooge than it is to pick yourself up, brush yourself off and get into the true spirit. Thanks again for the kick in the butt........will try harder here!!!!

I put up my tree the day after my two daughters birthday on December 16th(and they aren't twins) and then I take it down Christmas day after all the presents have been opened BAH HUMBUG!!!!!!

Re: when does your tree go up?

We haven't had a tree for the last 2 years because DD and DS hosted Christmas at their homes. I like this rotating thing. But this year is my turn and I am torn between killing a tree at the local tree farm or going out and replacing our worn out 20-something year old artificial tree.

If it is real, it won't go up until around the 15th. I hate seeing it after Christmas. If I could, I would take it down on the 26th. But DH insists that it stay up until after New Years.
